Every autumn, around 1 November – the Day of the National Awakeners – the Rotary Club Varna – Euxinograd honours the young people who bring renown to Varna through their achievements in science, technology and the arts. The Rotary – Euxinograd Awards have been presented every year since 2008 and are the club's most important project. In November 2026 they will be presented for the nineteenth time.
Why we give these awards
The awards are dedicated to the Day of the National Awakeners and to the anniversary of our club's founding. Their purpose is to recognise outstanding achievements by students in grades 8 to 12 at Varna schools – top placings at national and international olympiads, competitions, contests and festivals – and to encourage young people to keep growing.
Since 2023 the award has had a second part: recognition for teachers who inspire and mentor their students. Behind almost every young person's success there is a teacher who believed in them, and we believe that their work deserves recognition too.
The awards are presented at a formal ceremony attended by students, parents, teachers, school principals, representatives of public institutions and members of the Rotary community. The ceremony is traditionally held at the Boris Georgiev City Art Gallery in Varna.
Categories
Student awards are given for achievements during the past year (for 2026 – the period 15.09.2025 – 14.09.2026) in four categories:

- Technology
- Arts
Teacher awards are given for achievements during the past school year, taking into account:
- work with students who have succeeded at national or international level;
- leading or taking part in projects;
- scientific publications;
- innovative approaches to education.
How candidates are nominated
Every year in mid-September the club sends an invitation to all secondary schools in Varna. Schools submit nominations through online forms – a separate form for each student or teacher, accompanied by documents proving their achievements (certificates, diplomas, awards), named after the candidate. The deadline is usually in early October.
The club's awards committee reviews all applications, ranks them by category and proposes the list of winners for the club's approval.
The 2026 awards
This year we are presenting the awards to students for the nineteenth time and to teachers for the fourth time. The nomination deadline was 10 October 2026, and the committee is already ranking the applications received.
Thank you
We thank the principals and teachers who every year discover and nominate their most outstanding students; the members and friends of the club whose donations make the awards possible; and our partners in the educational institutions and the municipality. Most of all, we thank the students themselves – you are proof that knowledgeable, capable and inspired young people are growing up in Varna.
